PT Galang Bumi Industri (GBI), developer of the National Strategic Project Wiraraja Green Renewable Energy & Smart Eco-Industrial Park (GESEIP) in Galang, Batam, has signed a series of strategic business agreements with U.S.-based companies, including Essence Global Group and Tynergy Technology Corporation USA.

The signings were witnessed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during his working visit to the United States.

The technology partnerships encompass three principal agreements involving GBI. A semiconductor industry development cooperation with Essence Global Group was signed by GBI President Director Ahmad Maaruf Maulana and Essence President Director Chester Coleman.

Separately, a partnership with Tynergy Technology Group was formalized by GBI Director Kadafi Yahya Muhamad and Tynergy President Director Yan Purba.

Kadafi Yahya stated that the U.S. investment will be supported by the industrial estate’s readiness, infrastructure availability, and streamlined permitting to ensure rapid project implementation.

He described the move as a key milestone in positioning Galang as a new hub for semiconductor manufacturing and renewable energy in Southeast Asia.

GBI also concluded a cross-border free trade zone cooperation agreement with Solanna Group LLC, signed by GBI Director Tjaw Hioeng and Solanna Group President David Fordon.

Through the Tynergy Group of Companies, downstream ecosystem development will include silica quartz refining for the glass industry via PT Quantum Luminous Indonesia, as well as polysilicon purification through PT Essence Global Indonesia.

Ahmad Maaruf Maulana noted that, if the initial phase proceeds smoothly, an additional investment of US$26.7 billion (approximately Rp451.17 trillion) is projected to support ingot wafer production, wafer slicing, and complementary fabrication within an integrated semiconductor production cycle in Indonesia.

The agreements also cover investment cooperation and manufacturing infrastructure development in Galang, expansion of renewable energy projects, workforce development, and joint research and technology development initiatives.

Tynergy Technology Corp is set to invest an initial US$250 million (around Rp4.2 trillion) to build manufacturing facilities in Galang, a project expected to generate approximately 2,500 skilled jobs.

In addition, Tynergy Group plans to establish PT Energy Tech Indonesia to develop a sodium-ion energy storage facility with capacity of up to 150 MW of sustainable energy to support operations within the industrial park.

To facilitate semiconductor and solar cell technology transfer, the partners will pursue joint development between two free economic zones: the Wiraraja GESEIP National Strategic Project in Galang and the Solanna Akimel 7 Technopark in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Arizona.

The commitment is formalized through a Transnational Special Economic Zone Friendship Pact between the two regions.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global semiconductor and renewable energy supply chains, while supporting AI-based data center development and accelerating the clean energy transition in both countries.
