indonesiabrief.com/ — EXECUTIVE MAGAZINE: A Legacy in Print Media in 2025

Since its inception in 1979, Executive Magazine has proudly maintained its position as Indonesia's first business magazine, an honor that was recognized by the Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI). Over the years, Executive Magazine has cemented its place in the hearts of its readers. In 2025, despite the ongoing trend toward digitalization and rumors about the “twilight of print media,” Executive Magazine remains steadfast in its commitment to publishing in print, while also embracing the digital world.

The print media landscape has undeniably changed. In the wake of the crisis and the pandemic, many print publications have shifted their focus entirely to digital platforms. However, Executive Magazine stands firm, continuing to produce high-quality print editions alongside its digital offerings. The magazine can be purchased digitally via platforms such as Getscoop (Gramedia Digital) and Myedisi.com, but it also remains available in print for those who prefer the tactile experience of reading a physical magazine.

Despite the global shift toward digital media, the demand for print magazines persists. Advertising agencies still reach out to print media, and long-standing clients inquire about advertising rates and placement in print editions. There is a certain nostalgia and appeal to the print format, especially among readers in the upper-middle class, typically aged 40 and above. For these readers, a printed magazine is not just a source of information but a physical object that enhances their space. Many readers display magazines in their offices or living rooms, and they are often given as part of corporate giveaways or goody bags at events.

Executive Magazine has maintained its legacy as a premium business and lifestyle publication in print, despite the growing digital trend. The collaboration with MATRA Magazine under PT Usaha Konvergensi Media (UKM) has allowed both publications to evolve and adapt to the changing media landscape. By offering digital versions alongside print, these magazines continue to meet the demands of both digital and traditional readers.

Print editions of Executive Magazine and MATRA are available in leading bookstores across Indonesia, but they can also be purchased through a dedicated hotline service for subscribers. For readers who prefer digital formats, both magazines are available through e-magazine platforms, offering a convenient option for readers who wish to access their favorite magazines on-the-go.

As part of the strategic shift under PT UKM, both Executive Magazine and MATRA have successfully integrated digital technologies such as FinTech solutions and are exploring new ways to reach their audiences through various online platforms. In late 2022, both magazines issued a statement confirming their ongoing commitment to print editions, which can be purchased through apps like Scoop (now part of Gramedia Digital) using mobile credits, credit cards, or e-money options.

Executive Magazine has also enhanced its online presence with the development of its website, www.eksekutif.com, while MATRA Magazine can be accessed through its own online portal, www.matranews.id. These platforms complement the print editions and provide readers with a more interactive experience, ensuring that both publications continue to thrive in the digital age.

In summary, while the media industry undergoes significant transformations, Executive Magazine and MATRA remain resolute in their dedication to print publishing. PT UKM, the holding company for both publications, has made it clear that print editions will continue to be a central focus, serving the needs of readers, institutions, and academia who still prefer the tangible format. By blending tradition with innovation, Executive Magazine and MATRA are ready to face the challenges of the future while remaining true to their legacy.
