The South Tangerang Journalists Association (PERWATAS) held a consolidation meeting for its executive committee at the PERWATAS Secretariat, located in Intermark BSD, Associate Tower, 2nd Floor, Jalan Lingkar Timur No. 9, Mekar Jaya, Serpong, Banten.
This meeting marked a significant step in strengthening the organization’s internal structure and refining its future work agenda.
Chaired directly by PERWATAS Chairman Agus Supriyanto, the meeting was attended by several executive members and media figures, including SS Budi Raharjo, MM—the Chairman of the Indonesian Digital Media Association (AMDI), Senior Journalist of the Press Council, and a resident of South Tangerang.
During the session, the interim executive committee was announced, naming Bro Ridwan as Secretary-General and Bro Indra as Treasurer.
PERWATAS R&D Division: From Research to Real Solutions
The main agenda of the meeting was the formation of a Research and Development (R&D) team, which will be at the forefront of identifying, studying, and addressing social issues in South Tangerang.
“Mass media must serve as a watchdog, a source of constructive criticism, and a provider of public-interest solutions,” stated Munir, a senior Tangsel journalist who contributed input during the meeting.
The PERWATAS R&D team is designed not only to conduct in-depth research but also to present its findings through public discussions featuring relevant stakeholders and expert speakers. These discussions will be held monthly and remain open to a wide range of Tangsel stakeholders.
Furthermore, the R&D team will develop data-driven surveys and journalistic reports, with the goal of producing content that not only resonates locally but also contributes to national discourse.
“This R&D unit will operate according to high journalistic standards. If necessary, investigations will be conducted to ensure the voices of South Tangerang citizens are heard nationwide,” emphasized SS Budi Raharjo, affectionately known as Jojo.
Despite the absence of a few executive members, the consolidation meeting successfully resulted in a shared commitment: PERWATAS is set to become a critical yet constructive partner in building a healthy, factual, and solution-oriented information ecosystem in South Tangerang.
In addition, the meeting also discussed strategic cooperation plans between PERWATAS and various Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) under the South Tangerang City Government, which are currently being refined.
