indonesiabrief.com/ — Families of National Heroes Attend National Pilgrimage and Sacred Reflection Ceremony at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery

The Ikatan Keluarga Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia (IKPNI), or Association of Indonesian National Heroes’ Families, attended the solemn Ziarah Nasional (National Pilgrimage) and Renungan Suci (Sacred Reflection) ceremony at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMPN), South Jakarta.

Among those present was Ismeth Wibowo, grandson of Indonesia’s national figure Ir. H. Djuanda, who came with fellow IKPNI members to pray for his late father, grandfather, and uncle whose final resting places are at Kalibata.

The event was also attended by several other descendants of Indonesia’s national heroes, including:

-Sri Eko Wulani – family of KH. Zainul Arifin

-Bruno Widya Permana – family of Shodancho Supriyadi

-Chairil Aditya Arifin – family of KH. Zainul Arifin

-Ismeth Wibowo – family of Ir. H. Djuanda

-Indah Soedadi – family of Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo

-Marini Widowati Sudjoko – family of Dr. GSSJ Ratulangi

-Margareth Lukas – family of John Li

-Dino Dimara

-Edwin Soeriaatmadja – family of Iwa Kusuma Sumantri

-Chairil Imam Arifin – family of KH. Zainul Arifin

-Christian V. – family of WR. Soepratman

-Iskandar Purba – family of Kiras Bangun

-Satrio Purwanto – family of Gatot Soebroto

-Fatmasari Diahpermata – family of Dr. Muwardi

The ceremony took place at the stroke of midnight, marking the early hours of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.

President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka joined the pilgrimage, accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Commander of Jakarta Garrison, Brigadier General Edi Saputra.

Upon arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed at the main gate before proceeding to the Heroes’ Monument where the ceremony began.

In a solemn atmosphere, the Head of State laid a wreath as a tribute to the fallen heroes of the nation. This was followed by a moment of silence led directly by President Prabowo.

“My fellow countrymen, let us bow our heads and remember the souls and sacrifices of our heroes. They gave their lives for Indonesia’s independence, sovereignty, and dignity. Let us observe a moment of silence,” said the President.

The crowd stood in deep reflection, offering prayers for the heroes who had safeguarded the nation’s freedom and integrity. The ceremony concluded with a salute to the fallen, accompanied by the sounding of the “Last Post.”

After the formal proceedings, President Prabowo greeted attendees, including the fam  ilies of the national heroes and members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, before leaving the cemetery grounds.
