In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, Bank Indonesia (BI) is making waves once again with the 2025 Festival Rupiah Berdaulat Indonesia (FERBI). The spirited event serves as both an educational platform and a national call to action: “Protect the Rupiah, Protect Our Sovereignty!”
Opening the event virtually, BI Governor Perry Warjiyo delivered a stirring message that resonated deeply:
“The Rupiah is the fruit of independence fought for by our heroes. Do not allow its value to be tarnished.”
With the theme “Strong Synergy to Safeguard a Sovereign Rupiah”, Perry outlined three reasons why every Indonesian must love, respect, and understand their currency:
A Symbol of National Sovereignty that must be protected and honored.
The Identity of the Republic of Indonesia, marked by the Garuda Pancasila and the phrase “Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia” printed on every note.
A Window to Indonesia, showcasing the nation’s history, culture, and natural wealth through its designs.
Perry also reminded the public that caring for banknotes, avoiding counterfeit currency, and using the Rupiah in all transactions are all part of keeping Indonesia sovereign.
FERBI 2025 is not merely ceremonial—it’s a tangible movement to ignite the nationwide spirit of Love, Pride, and Understanding of the Rupiah.
Independence Celebrations with a Special Touch
This year’s Independence Day festivities have been made even more special. “It’s an inspiring event,” said Ismeth Wibowo Amirullah, a young automotive figure from Sunra Motor Indonesia and grandson of National Hero Ir. Djuanda Kartawidjaja.
On Friday, August 15, Ismeth attended both BNIwondrX 2025 at ICE BSD and FERBI 2025 at Istora Senayan – Gelora Bung Karno.

Running until August 17 under the theme “More Than Just an Expo”, BNIwondrX 2025 offers a variety of interactive experiences—from automotive and property exhibitions with special deals, travel promotions, and flight tickets, to Japanese delicacies and Indonesian favorites.
The event’s vibrant atmosphere is further enhanced by performances from top musicians including Juicy Luicy, Lyodra, Bernadya, and Wijaya 80, blending entertainment with the spirit of independence.
FERBI: Rupiah Education & Nationalism in Action
Also kicking off on August 15, FERBI 2025 showcases the history and technology behind the Rupiah, educational talk shows, competitions, interactive games, as well as coin exchange services and the distribution of the 75th Independence Commemorative Banknote.
For Ismeth, this moment goes beyond celebration.
“For me, knowing and appreciating the Rupiah isn’t just about money—it’s about honoring the nation’s sovereignty. I’m proud to attend two events that both inspire positive energy in society,” he said.
